Solutions for Six Common Networking Challenges for Introverts

Welcome Tip of the Week readers! I’m Kibibi Springs, myGreenlight’s Community Director.

Here’s the transcript of Nancy Ancowitz’s Social Capitalist Skills Session with Tahl Raz – enjoy!

Also, read Tahl’s blog about being an introvert here.

The Social Capitalist Skills Sessions are 30-minute recorded chats focused on helping listeners master specific skills and disciplines in the relational and social arts. myGreenlight members have access to our full, searchable library of previous calls.

While you’re here, we’d love suggestions for future Skills Sessions: What would you like to learn from myGreenlight? We are constantly developing new content to directly meet the needs of our members.

  2. Interesting. I’m very introverted and work in a field dominated by introverts (wildlife biology). Picture; guys with beards and plaid shirts hanging around the edge of the room at conferences. Large conferences generally tend to be “extrovert country”. I have noticed that extroverts tend to dominate the social events by working the room (i.e. visiting the wall flowers). I agree with your assertion that coming prepared will lead to a fruitful meeting. Identify a few things 1) What is your objective for attending the event, 2) Who is attending the event, 3) What can they do to help you and, 4) What can you offer them.

It is still be a challenge when people who can really help you are extremely popular (i.e. extroverted) and have an entourage. You need to figure out how to penetrate their inner circle and meet with the person one on one (where an introvert can shine).
